Iron Man and the Iron Maiden

One of the series that I read regularly is the ongoing Invincible Iron Man
by Matt Fraction. It's one of the few Dark Reign tie in stories that I thoroughly dig as Tony Stark is an Outlaw running from the malevolent Norman Osborn and his HAMMER goons, after having been the Marvel U's top guy and turning into a bit of a d-bag because of his power. Now the tables are turned as Tony deals with being the type of unregistered fugitive he himself pursued during the whole Civil War shindig, and man does Norman Osborn want to get him.

The problem that Iron Man is encountering is the massive amount of data stored in his computer like brain, and how much he is losing. Downgraded intellegence is leading him to downgrading his armor as he's going backwards through Iron Man suits. In the most recent issue, #14, Tony is sporting the most recognizable classic red and gold armor that he had worn since the late 60's on through the early 80's. Before long, it looks as if Tony's going to be a drooling vegetable in the original bulky gray monstrosity premiered in Tales of Suspense #39. While Tony has been on the run downgrading his armor, trusted long time assistant Pepper Potts has been endowed with her own armor and has since been on a rash of disaster rescues, all legal.

The cat and mouse game between Osborn and Stark has been a fun read so far, and once this whole Dark Reign thing comes to a head, I would venture a guess that the events in Iron Man will play a significant role. Tony's path to redemption will more than likely coincide with Norman Osborn's loss of his absolute power. All he had to do was shave his head and mustache.
